Chronic Back Pain ManagementChronic Back Pain Management Is Used To Reduce Back Pain And In Most Cases Completely Eliminates It.
Back pain afflicts a large percentage of the population. In the past, back pain was the old citizen's illness but in recent years, more and more young people are complaining of the same. There are many causes of back pain, ranging from irritated nerves, back sprains and strains, diseases to everyday triggers such as wrong posture, lifting things incorrectly, sitting or driving in a hunched position, twisting and driving, bending or standing for long among others. Basically, any activity that twists or bends the back muscles or the spine puts you at risk of developing chronic back pain. Some conditions can also put you at risk of developing back pain. These include pregnancy, smoking, obesity/overweight, and depression.
The most prevalent symptom of back pain is stiffness, tension or pain in the back. It could be suffering from upper back pain in particular or low back pain. Other symptoms include muscle spasms, pain that cuts through your lower back to your legs and reduced motion range when doing activities that involve use of your back muscles. Following examination and positive diagnosis of back pain, the doctor will initiate back pain treatment. Back pain management involves use drugs, manual therapy, physical therapy, acupuncture and self-care. Different medications are used to alleviate back pain. Paracetamol is the most commonly used.
In cases where the pain does not ease after using this pain reliever, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory (NSAID) drugs or proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) are used. Acupuncture, physical therapy and manual therapy (massage and chiropractic techniques) can be used in isolation. However, in severe cases, a combination of back pain exercises and psychological therapy is used to provide back pain relief. These options usually provide effective back pain treatment but if the pain is still there after all treatments have been used, the doctor will carry out a spinal fusion. This is a form of surgery that is only performed in special cases.
