Receive Personalized Assessment, Treatment and Care, Recover and Discover Wellness at Chronic Pain Management Clinics

Chronic pain can be crippling. What makes acute pain so real and unbearable is the fact that it can be caused by any number of things and is usually the result of an underlying medical problem. Chronic pain management clinics provide treatment for different types of pains – headaches, back pains, shoulder pains, neck pain, arthritis, fibromyalgia, post-surgical pain, spinal cord injury, reflex sympathetic dystrophy, facial pain and work-related injuries among others.

The first thing the pain specialist will do when you visit the pain clinic will be to carry out a thorough assessment to establish the cause of the pain. This will form the basis of the pain treatment to use on you. Some patients will experience pain in more than one place. The pain doctor will choose the pain management therapy that your body is likely to respond best to.

If the chronic pain is found to be the result of an underlying condition, the pain doctor will put you on pain therapy as they treat the underlying condition. This is often a combination of pain relief medication, chiropractic and psychological therapies that are designed to ease the pain and help you cope respectively. Once the underlying medical condition is treated, the chronic pain disappears.

Chronic pain management clinics often combine pain therapy with self pain care management through which the patient becomes actively involved in the treatment. Many pain clinics provide group-based pain management therapy in addition to individual care. Group therapy provides psychological thematic treatment, which is important for full recovery.

As pain is very subjective, the pain specialist will observe you carefully and issue a pain control regimen that will work for you. Unlike other conditions where response to medication is predictable and similar across all patients, patients with chronic pain respond to pain treatment differently.
